In 2019, the festival’s journey in Cyprus began. The first edition took place in Nicosia under the name Make Music Nicosia, as an initiative envisioned by Andria Nicodemou and implemented in collaboration with the organisation ARTio and Maria Yerosimou(†).

It was the first time that the international spirit of Make Music Day found expression in Cyprus, bringing to Nicosia the idea of a day where music belongs to everyone and is freely shared in public spaces.

With 78 artists across 5 music spots, this first edition laid the foundations for a festival that would continue to grow in the years that followed. It stood out for its spontaneity and immediacy, creating an open celebration without barriers, where professionals and amateurs of all ages and musical backgrounds shared the same space.

This marked the birth of an idea that would soon expand, shaping a new cultural experience for the city.
